The wedding of Kjersti and Dmitriy that took place at the Villa Sao Paulo in Estoril, Portugal was a truly international affair. Kjersti is from Norway and Dmitriy from Russia and they both met and fell in love in the city of New York – which is where they now live with their young son Nikolai. Getting friends and family together from both sides of the worlds was always going to be a mission until they decided on the destination wedding of their dreams in Portugal.
A wedding in Portugal
Last weekend, we made a wedding by the sea whose theme was “orange”.
This couple from London, UK, was very pleased to get married in Portugal under such a bright sun. Attracted by the sumptuous villas by the sea and the beautiful landscapes that the country can offer, they choose Portugal as wedding destination.
A Portuguese ceremony
The wedding ceremony was outdoors of a villa in a beautiful garden with sea sight, in which was set up a canopy with white voiles, flowers arrangements and a red carpet covered of roses petals. So romantic! In front of the sea and under the canopy and the sun of Portugal, it was celebrated in Portuguese, as the law says and then translated in English, mother tongue of the bride and groom. This way, this wedding in Portugal seemed more real and typical to the couple and guests. In these heavenly surroundings, the photographer made splendid photos which will make a magnificent wedding picture album to have marvellous memories. With white poufs, the guests could enjoy the sun and the wonderful sight of the sea while celebrating this wedding in Portugal having a cocktail near the pool served by waiters and listening to music.
An original wedding decoration
The only rule being “orange”, we let our imagination run wild to finally make a decoration mainly made of oranges in wicker baskets and orange flowers. With very simple things we can make so original decorations for a wedding, this orange colour everywhere reminded the sun and brought warmth and summer in the garden and the dining room. Tables were lovely, dominated by the centrepieces made of oranges and flowers in a glass bowl. Orange flowers were tightened around the napkins with orange ribbon and seating plans sunk in half oranges leaving a nice touch and a delicious smell of Algarve, main orange producing region in Portugal. We tried to break these English people’s habits, showing the best side of this country to make the experience of getting married in Portugal even more unforgettable.
