Its one of the most charismatic metropolis in Europe, and the second most important city in Portugal right after Lisbon. It is a city that kept its roots, preserved an ancient and contemporary architecture, making its historic centre listed since 1996 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, a place with many city venues and historical venues. In 1998, hosted the VIII Iberoamerican Summit and was European Capital of Culture in 2001, along with Rotterdam. The gastronomy is very characteristic well representative of the Oporto people spirit, large portions and authentic cuisine, based on heritage and historic events.
